Hands on with Minecraft Dungeons, Mojang's unexpected expansion of the Minecraft universe Oh, and there was that little game called Minecraft, too. Nisshagen lists Diablo 2 as a key source of inspiration for the team as it navigated the terrain of this beloved genre, but also points to unlikely muses such as Left 4 Dead and the Warhammer: Vermintide series as touchstones for creating an intuitive and accessible co-op experience. Eventually, it was no longer just a mini spin-off title for the 3DS, but a big-budget, multi-platform expansion of the Minecraft franchise, featuring online and local co-op, a full campaign, and sweeping plans for post-launch support.

"That's not really how we operate."įrom there, Minecraft Dungeons continued to grow, evolve, and permutate in development. "It was not like we did a SWOT analysis and identified an unsatisfied market segment," jokes Nisshagen. Given the limited technology and smaller screen presented by the platform, explains Nisshagen, adopting a top down perspective thus made the most sense.Ĭouple that with the need to retain Minecraft's core gameplay loop of collecting, crafting, and exploration, and you can see why the studio quickly landed on the dungeon crawler as a strong choice of genre for such a title. Minecraft Dungeons started life as a 3DS project, after Mojang's chief creative officer Jens Bergensten expressed interest in a new Minecraft game for what was then Nintendo's most popular handheld console of the day. So my question is, is there another mod or something that simply takes the Millenia weapons, pulls them from Doc Mitchell's house and just sticks them in the Gun Runner's vendor list, like every other weapons mod ever? Something like that, I'd download in a heartbeat, but without that I just keep reading "you can find it on Doc Mitchell's toilet" before deciding not to download."We never punish the player for experimentation" Iunno, I can understand if some people find that stupid or petty, but I just can't look past how my character supposedly just -has- all these awesome weapons because some Doctor in a backwater apparently stockpiled a bunch of guns on top of his stove.

Likewise, this may sound (understandably) petty to some people, but I have a "use everything at your disposal to survive" dead-is-dead sort of playstyle, so having an entire house of free weapons for me just breaks my immersion hard it's like one giant location I have to pretend doesn't exist. Why that guy (or team) insists on flooding Doc Mitchell's house is beyond me. So Millenia's mods are always on the front page and they always look to be top quality, except. I may or may not have asked this before know I wanted to but forget if I ever actually made a thread.
